Lenovo Yoga Slim 7, review: the Ryzen 7 4800U takes this ultrabook to another level of performance and autonomy
This 2020 has become an excellent year to get a powerful, lightweight ultrabook at a good price. And the reason is not so much on the side of particular brands but on a component: the processor. Specifically, the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U that we are beginning to see more frequently in laptops.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 that we have already tested in Xataka is one of the ultrabooks that get the best out of this AMD processor. But the raw power is not the only noteworthy argument of this new 14-inch ultrabook that is scheduled to arrive on the Spanish market before the end of the year. Very attentive.

A solid and robust ultrabook
The Lenovo Yoga 7 Slim is a classic ultrabook. If you think about this category of laptops, until not long ago it was directly associated with sobriety and in a certain way with the professional or business world. In fact, despite the name, this Yoga Slim 7 (and which in the US will be named Ideapad Slim 7) has more similarities with Lenovo's Thinkpad family than with the brand's well-known convertibles.

The casing, with an aluminum finish, has no other elements than the brand logo as a very well integrated label.
This ultrabook is very compact for its screen diagonal. It has a metallic finish (aluminum for its entire body) that both to the touch and effectively, leaves us with a broad feeling of robustness and durability. This combination of factors results in a team that conveys the idea of heavy to us, although the reality is that its figures are not entirely bad: 1.5 cm thick and 1.4 kg in weight.
The sensation of being a resistant team and nothing flimsy can be seen in the screen hinge, which, in addition to allowing us to fold the screen up to 180 degrees, supports the inclination that we decide or need at any time without problems and with consistency and security. Despite this, the system supports opening the screen with one hand.

Although it is not a touch device, the screen can be flipped up to 180 degrees, something that is very useful for us to manage reflections as much as possible
The design, as we have indicated, is sober. No prominent logos or aggressive lines on the casing. In fact, its corners are very well finished with a rounded shape, which makes the touch very pleasant. We only find winks to the brand in the design in the form of excellently finished engravings both on the casing and inside. Or the name of the 7 series on the closure. Also the aluminum finish of the casing, in a matt gray tone, is very easily maintained as the first day. No trace of fingerprints or dirt on the outside or inside. And I'm a fan of fingerprints on the keyboard, for example. In this one it seems that after the days of testing the equipment, he had not even touched it. Magnificent.

Despite its price, level details flood the design of this equipment. What I liked the most is that the matte finish of the casing does not get dirty at all
At the connectivity level, this Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 is not badly prepared for the segment to which it belongs. We have two USB-C ports, one of them enabled to connect a screen via Displayport 1.4b, as well as two USB Type A 3.1 Gen1, full HDMI 2.0b output and a microSD card reader. There is also headphone in/out port.
